Mar 03, 2012 Compatible with the QUAKE III Arena port are the S60 3rd Edition phones powered by a TI OMAP 2420 processor. Those include the Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N82 and Nokia E90. Despite having the same chipset, the now elderly Nokia N95 isn`t among the compatible models as it has less RAM than the N95 8GB (half the amount, actually). Even if the first N95 version is in every respect compatible with the way Quake III was developed for mobile phones, it does not have enough RAM memory for this advanced game to be run properly on it.
Developer Olli Hinkka has already put together Quake I and II ports for 3rd edition S60 Symbian-equipped phones (Nokia N95 8GB, N82 and E90), and now he's released the third game in the series, Quake III Arena. Most impressively of all, he's added Bluetooth keyboard and mouse support, which has always been the real snagging point of mobile Quake conversions due to the game's inherent reliance on them as controllers. On top of this impressive achievement you're also able to run a game server from the mobile – allowing for full multiplayer support. Unfortunately it's only compatible with the handsets mentioned above, as they're the S60s with enough RAM to push it. Still, Quake III Arena looks pixel-perfect and is great news for the huge number of pocket gamers who do carry those phones. To be transported to the developer's site to download the game and read up on how to install, run and play it.

UPDATE: Now also for Quake 1 & 2! All info here: This is my modification of Olli Hinkka's port of Quake 3 Arena to Symbian OS.
It adds support for the phone's in-built accelerometer, which is used as a mouse. This can run on a Nokia N95 8GB, N95-3, N82 and E90 (the last one doesn't have an accelerometer though. If you have a bluetooth mouse and/or keyboard, you can use those to control the game too. This mod should later be integrated into Olli Hinkka's release. This is easier than it looks. I just didn't have time to practice:) This is how it is when played comfortably: More information about Olli Hinkka's port here: This modification also features: 1. Improved menu readability through bigger fonts where necessary 2.
Fixed console texts 3. A command for setting the zero-point to the current tilt level: setzeropoint (This can be binded to a key!) 4. Cvars for tweaking:. accelerometer (default value = 1) - Turn accelerometer control on/off. 1 = enabled, any other value = disabled. sensy (default value = 0.55) - Y axis sensitivity, compared to X.
deadzone (default = 2) - The accelerometer doesn't move the mouse until you tilt it by more than the deadzone value from the zero-point (to prevent shaking etc.). Integer value. zeropointx (default = 4) - The zero-point, which is the value of the accelerometer's X axis when the mouse should be still. It needs to be 4 on my phone to prevent the mouse from veering to the left (or was it right, I don't remember).
Integer value. zeropointy (default = 40) - The zero-point for the Y axis. Integer value. Download link and info on how to install in this thread: Credits: Olli Hinkka (author of the port) kaeptnql (beta testing) Symbian-Feak.com (awesome site & forum) Quake 3 Arena (c) ID Software.
